Hi Lora, this is Susie. Your younger sister Mary told me that you were ill. You were not at school today and I want to tell you about our lessons. The first lesson was English. We read a text about London and described a picture of an American farm.

I learned interesting things about farm animals. Our English teacher asked us to write a text about a town in Russia at home. The second lesson was maths. We solved five mathematical problems. Two problems were very difficult and three problems were easy.

The teacher asked us to solve three problems at home. I think you can help me because you know maths very well. After maths, we had PE and music. They are my favourite lessons because I am good at sport and I like to sing very much.

One rainy Saturday afternoon, Sarah was reading a book in her room. Suddenly, she heard a quiet «meow» outside her window. She looked out and saw a small, grey kitten. It looked wet and hungry.

Sarah ran to the kitchen to get some milk. She put the milk in a small bowl and took it outside. The kitten was scared at first, but then it came closer and drank all the milk. Sarah wanted to keep the kitten, but she knew she had to find its owner first.

Sarah made a poster. She wrote «Found: A grey kitten» and put her phone number on it. She showed the poster to her neighbours. Mr. Brown from house number five said, «I think this is Mrs. Wilson’s kitten. She lives in the blue house on Green Street. Her cat had kittens last month».

Sarah went to the blue house on Green Street. An old woman opened the door. «Yes!» she said happily. «This is my Lucy! She ran away yesterday. Thank you for bringing her back!» Mrs. Wilson gave Sarah a big box of chocolates. Sarah was sad to say goodbye to the kitten, but she was happy that Lucy was home.
