Snowflakes are ice crystals which fall through the Earth’s atmosphere as snow. People like to think that every snowflake has a unique shape. However, it’s not true. While snowflakes may look different, they can still be classified into eight groups and about eighty different variants. Some scientists have done a lot of research into making a kind of a catalogue of snowflakes.
The most typical patterns for a snowflake are needles, columns, plates and rimes. The shape and the pattern of a snowflake largely depend on the weather conditions. The study of snowflakes has identified that long, thin needle-like ice crystals form at around zero, while a lower temperature will lead to very flat crystals. Further changes in temperature as a snowflake falls determine more complicated shapes of snowflakes. The size of a snowflake also depends on the air temperature.

Hi Katya! I’m sending you this voice message because of those technical issues with the photos.
You know, it took me a while to choose the right pictures for our «Ideal Weekend» project. I was browsing through a ton of images online, and I finally settled on two that I think represent the modern dilemma perfectly. The first photo I selected is aesthetically very pleasing – it shows a girl in a cozy-looking living room, sitting on a big sofa. She’s wearing stylish headphones and seems completely absorbed in her own world. The lighting is soft, and the whole scene promotes this idea of comfortable solitude. The second photo is a complete visual contrast. It’s shot outdoors, in bright daylight, and captures a moment of pure movement and friendship. Three girls are riding bicycles along a country road, their hair flying in the wind, and you can almost hear their laughter. It’s a powerful image of freedom and shared experience.
When we think about the concept of an ideal weekend, it’s fascinating how it reflects our personal values. Some people prioritize this kind of digital detox and personal space, while others crave social connection and adventure. For the presentation, I was thinking we could use a split-screen design to emphasize this contrast visually. We could also include some poll results about how people actually spend their weekends versus how they wish they spent them. Personally, I find the technical aspect of putting the presentation together quite interesting – choosing the right fonts, transitions, and maybe even adding a short background soundtrack that switches from calm to energetic. What do you think about that approach?
Hi Katya! I found some cool pictures for our project.
The first one is a girl on a sofa with headphones. The second one is some girls on bikes. I think both are fun. I really like the bike one because it’s more active. So, I think we should use these pictures. Let me know what you think!
Hi Katya! I’m recording this because I can’t send the photos right now. For our «Ideal Weekend» project, I’ve picked two contrasting pictures. The first one shows a girl relaxing on a sofa, wearing headphones, probably listening to music or watching something. She’s indoors, just chilling alone. The second photo is very different—it features three girls riding bicycles on a sunny road, laughing and clearly having fun together outdoors.
These pictures illustrate two classic weekend styles. The main advantage of the first one, the «chill at home» weekend, is that it’s perfect for deep relaxation and recharging your energy after a busy week. You don’t have to plan anything. The «active with friends» weekend, on the other hand, is great for creating memories, getting some exercise, and breaking the routine.
Of course, each has its downsides. Staying in all weekend might get a bit lonely or boring after a while, and you miss out on fresh air. The active option can be tiring, requires more organization, and depends on the weather.
Personally, I prefer the active weekend with friends, like in the bike photo. I think a perfect weekend should be a balance, but being active with others just brings more joy and positive emotions. It makes you feel more alive and connected. However, sometimes a quiet day at home is exactly what you need. Let’s discuss how to present this balance in our project!
